Hilton Head Island

Julianna and I spent last weekend in Hilton Head. We went down for the wedding of a girl that I used to babysit. Can you say OLD!!! In addition to getting to spend time with this wonderful family that I have been close to since I was sixteen years old, I was able to take Julianna to the beach for the first time EVER!! It was just about the most fun I have ever had. She absolutely LOVED the ocean. I really thought she was going to be more into the sand, but she wanted to spend just about every minute jumping the waves and running along the water's edge. She kept putting her arms out and twirling around laughing. I actually got a lump in my throat just watching her. It just amazes me how "in the moment" kids are. Julianna cared about nothing but experiencing the joy of being at the beach for the first time. She wasn't worried about what time we had to leave in order to get to the wedding on time. She wasn't worried about what we were going to do about lunch, if we should leave our bags unattended while playing in the ocean, if it was time for another application of sunscreen, or if she was getting a little too deep. Wouldn't it be amazing to abandon all your fears and worries for even a couple of hours? Oh well, I don't think that is in the cards for a mama! I'll just have to live vicariously through my girl.

Julianna funny: Julianna had jeans on yesterday and after using the bathroom had a little trouble pulling them back up. She came out of the bathroom with them up around her thighs and said, "Could I get a little help here?!" Hee!!! Where does she get this stuff??

A little video. Couldn't get the thing to upload directly to blogger for some reason, so had to upload to youtube first. Lost a lot in quality, but what are you gonna do?

Strutting her stuff on the beach. She must have thought she owned the place with that swagger!

At the wedding.

Silly girls!

View from the front porch of the family I was staying with in Hilton Head! Their whole lot was covered with these amazingly beautiful trees!
